Running Week 5 - more runners needed !
I've received a request from the organisers of the 10k I'm doing to try and get more people signed up. So here are the details. I will be there so come and join me!
The London Age UK 10k is coming up in Crystal Palace at 10am on Sunday March 4th. Whether you want to walk, jog or run, this is going to be a day of fun for all the family with live music, food and entertainment.
The registration fee is just £14.95 and money raised will go to help older people across the country and in Crystal Palace who need support during the tough winter months – heating bills and keeping active can make things really challenging so we’re working hard to try to reduce these pressures. We are here to help with simple fundraising ideas and are challenging each participant to raise £50.
It’s quick and easy to register by going here: http://www.ageuk.org.uk/get-involved/events-and-challenges/10k-races/

Running Week 4 #running
I’m now comfortably running 5k in 35 mins. Am very pleased with this consistency however I am conscious that the 10k is now only 4 weeks away and I need to be increasing my distance. I ran along the Thames on Sunday with the friend I’m doing the 10k with and we covered 5k quite easily. It was good to run together as it gave us an idea of what it will be like on the day. It was also lovely to run through the City and down to Westminster. It’s quite inspiring to run in such surroundings and with the river next to you. It also wasn’t too busy as we went on Sunday morning.
Following this I did two runs on the treadmill of 5k on Tues and Thurs. I managed to run the first 4k at a pace of 7.03min/km and the last kilometer at 6.40min/km. I think I’m getting there and after each run I felt like I could have carried on. Then at the weekend it snowed. This put paid to my plan to run 8k as I was planning on doing, as I didn’t want to risk slipping in the snowy pavement. I saw some hardy souls out running this morning but I just didn’t think I should risk it. Falling over is a specialty of mine in snowy conditions at a walking pace so I decided that running in it was not worth the risk. I will try and make up for it this coming week by running Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday instead of Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. I will have to see how I get on with the increase in frequency.
